Rock Band DLC: Interrupted, Silversun Pickups, and more
Posted by admin in Technology on March 4th, 2010
“Awk, awk,” folks. A second pack of Disturbed hits Rock Band next week, along with music from the Silversun Picksups, The Mother Hips, and TRUSTcompany.
Disturbed Track Pack 02 ($5.48/440 MS Points for the pack, $1.99/160 MS Points/200 Wii Points per track)
- “Meaning of Life”
- “The Game”
- “Voices”
Single Tracks ($1.99/440 MS Points/200 Wii Points) per second
- The Mother Hips – “Third Floor Story”
- The Mother Hips – “White Falcon Fuzz”+
- Silversun Pickups – “Panic Switch”
- Silversun Pickups – “Sort of”+
- TRUSTcompany – “Downfall”+
+ means its downloadable and playable in LEGO Rock Band
Harmonix and MTV Games tell me that the Disturbed tracks are from the groups 10th Anniversary edition of their album, The Sickness. That album is ten years old, and that means I’m getting really, really old. If Medicare will pay for any of the tracks — and I can get myself out of this wheelchair to turn on my Xbox 360 — I’ll considering getting a few.
What say you?

Super Mario Galaxy 2 gameplay needs no introduction
Posted by admin in Technology on March 4th, 2010
There’s really nothing we need to state about this gameplay footage for Super Mario Galaxy 2. However, we don’t like five-word posts at Destructoid. There are other blogs you can go to if you want that kind of brevity. So, I’m simply going to cheat and post a description of root beer.
Root beer is a carbonated beverage originally brewed using sassafras. Root beer, popularized in North America, comes in two forms: alcoholic and soft drink. The historical root beer was analogous to small beer, in that the process provided a drink with a very low alcohol content. In spite of roots being used as the source of many soft drinks in many countries throughout the world (and even alcoholic beverages/beers), the name root beer is nearly unused outside of the United States, Canada, the Philippines and Australia. In Australia, it is most often branded as sarsaparilla. Most other countries have their own indigenous versions of root-based beverages and small beers but with different names and branding.
Oh, and Super Mario Galaxy 2 looks straight boiler, dawg.

Japan lifetime sales: 10m Wii, 5m PS3, 1.2m Xbox 360
Posted by admin in Technology on March 4th, 2010
The headline basically states it all. Enterbrain has released the Japanese lifetime sales numbers for the current generation of home consoles,
and here’s how it all plays out as of February 28th:
Wii: 10,007,736
PS3: 4,766,408
Xbox 360: 1,235,049
The Wii took 170 weeks to break the 10 million mark, which was 39 weeks longer than the PS2 took back in the day. They’re not “winning” by any means, but it’s nice to see that the Xbox 360 passed the 1 million mark. Microsoft made a mark with their system, perhaps gaining a foothold for their next release.

Gears of War Avatar stuff is probably cheaper now
Posted by admin in Technology on March 4th, 2010
This week’s Deal of the Week isn’t a 3D Realms or an EA DICE joint. Hell, it’s not even a downloadable game or add-on. According to Major Nelson, this week’s offer at a reduced price is Gears of War Avatar crap. Until next Monday, Gold members can download the COG armor and decorative helmet for 240 MSP and 80 MSP respectively in the Avatar Marketplace.
We’re not sure what kind of savings this is. We’re not nerd enough to consider making our digital likenesses look like nerds. That’s not to halt you though. Do your thing and be proud. Nerd.
