Michael Jordan and his tongue grace cover of NBA 2K11
Posted by admin in Technology on July 8th, 2010
2K Sports has revealed the cover athlete for its upcoming NBA 2K11, and it’s… Michael Jordan. And he’s trying to lick my face or something. Seriously, what’s going on here? Is this a thing Jordan is known for, playing basketball with his tongue hanging out of his mouth like a dehydrated puppy?
I’m not sure, I’m not the sports guy around here. But even though that’s the case, I damned well know who Jordan is, which makes him a killer catch for 2K Sports as a cover athlete. So props to them for scoring it, but let me run this by you:
“This could possibly be the most highly anticipated cover art in the history of sports games,” says Jason Argent, vice president of marketing for 2K Sports.
Is that a thing, “highly anticipated cover art”? Aren’t we looking forward to the game, and just kind of nodding in approval of the cool art here? True, 2K will probably sell a few games just by plastering Jordan’s wagging tongue on the cover. But Jordan himself probably won’t be playing the game. In fact, it doesn’t even sound like he’s much of a gamer, preferring to get sweaty on the court.
“It’s exciting to see it all come together. I am looking forward to seeing the final product,” he states, using ‘final product’ to mean ‘fat endorsement check,’ “but my children might have to give me some lessons.”
When you’re a living sports legend, considered to be one of the greatest of all time, I wouldn’t worry too much about being able to play basketball video games, Jordan. I think you’re doing just fine. NBA 2K11 is out October 5.

Worms 2: Armageddon ‘Battle Pack’ DLC available
Posted by admin in Technology on July 8th, 2010
Can’t get enough Worms action? Team17 has released a downloadable content pack for Worms 2: Armageddon on Xbox LIVE this day called “Battle Pack.”
The hefty DLC package features a new “Body Count” mode, a “Horde Mode” for Worms — a single worm battles against never-ending waves of enemies, the goal to stack up the most kills before you meet your inevitable demise. The mode will gets its own leaderboard, so let the trash speaking start.
“Battle Pack” also adds 30 new single-player deathmatches, a new “Warzone” theme and ton of new weapons and utilities — termites, ferrets, and more. There’s also 10 new forts and all new items you can use to customize your team.
Can I take a breath now? No seriously, I told you it was “hefty.” Even better, it’s only 400 MS Points.

Crackdown 2 paid DLC revealed
Posted by admin in Technology on July 8th, 2010
Crackdown 2 was released yesterday, and those who bothered to check out the game’s Avatar Awards will have discovered that plans are already in place for premium DLC.
This content will be required in order to unlock certain Awards that are currently unobtainable, meaning that when Ruffian could have been spending time and money to create a Crackdown 2 that wasn’t an expansion pack, it was instead working on DLC. That’s actually kind of insulting.
Two add-on packs have been outed — Toybox and Deluge. Little is known about them, except for the fact that to unlock the awards, you’ll need to finish “Fly Swat” in Toybox, and play fifteen minutes of “Maim” in Deluge. Maybe this is where all the original content is hiding? Who knows?

Fight Night Round 4 sticks, moves to Games on Demand
Posted by admin in Technology on July 8th, 2010
Last year, EA Sports took its digital version of the sweet science to a whole new level with Fight Night Round 4. But you had to leave the home in order to play it. No longer.
The pro boxing title has hit Xbox Games on Demand, and is available right now for download in all countries except those in Asia. (Those folks are quite broken up about this, from what I comprehend.) It’s a four gig download, and it’ll run you $29.99. Cue people saying how they have the ability to get a physical copy of the game for cheaper at a brick and mortar retailer in three, two…
Doesn’t matter where you get the game, it’s pretty damned good, perhaps one of the ideal in the Fight Night series (although that’s up for some debate that I’d probably lose). It’s also the only game in which you can make Mike Tyson kill Jeff Goldblum. Consider that for a second.
