State goodbye to EA Los Angeles and hello to Danger Close

Say goodbye to EA Los Angeles and hello to Danger Close screenshot

Electronic Arts Los Angeles, the team behind Medal of Honor, has opted for a more memorable name. Going forward, the studio will be known as Danger Close. Those who are familiar with military terminology or have played any war-centric shooters in the last few years will surely recognize the term.

Here’s the reasoning behind this sudden change:

Medal of Honor is the first game to fall under the Danger Close studio. And because the term “Danger Close” is all about pushing the boundaries, it’s the perfect fit for Medal of Honor given the team’s decision to take on a story that’s both controversial and one that needs to be told.”

A reasonable explanation for a rather neat name. If nothing else, the logo absolutely rocks.

Latin superstar Juanes coming to Rock Band in July

Maybe you’ve heard of Juanes, maybe you haven’t. I suppose it depends on where you live and what circles you run in, because apparently the dude is a huge Latin music rock star, and his music is making its debut in Rock Band in July.

A six song pack of Juanes songs will hit the Rock Band Music Store on July 27 and will include: “A Dios le Pido,” “Fijate Bien,” “Gotas de Agua Dulce,” “La Camisa Negra,” “Mala Gente,” and “Yerbatero.” They’ll mark the first time a Spanish language track was made available for download on the Rock Band Music Store, and Juanes is pleased. No, no… he’s thrilled.

“I am thrilled to be the first Spanish-language artist in Rock Band,” he states, confirming me saying just earlier that he is indeed thrilled, before commenting on his excitement. “I’m excited for my fans to connect with the songs right in their living rooms and to bring Latin Music to new fans as well.”

The six song track pack will run you $9.99/800 MS Points, or you can get individual songs for $1.99/160 MS Points/200 Wii Points a piece. If you can hold out to hear Juanes’ music in Rock Band, just wait until Rock Band 3 hits stores this October — one of his songs, “Me Enamora” will be included on the disc.

Forge 2.0 lets you customize everything in Halo: Reach

Forge 2.0 lets you customize everything in Halo: Reach screenshot

Bungie just held their panel at San Diego Comic-Con where they’ve revealed a new mode for Firefight that lets you play as the Covenant while others will be playing as Spartans. Another new mode — called “Gruntpocalypse” — has you up against waves of Grunts. Additionally, all of the maps for Firefight will be taken from the single-player campaign.

Another addition to Halo: Reach is Forge 2.0 and it’s going to offer you a lot more customization features than ever before. Don’t like that rock? Take it out then! Yup, you now have control over a map’s scenery along with the bases. Teleporters can be manipulated to any size too and you can have vehicles get teleported through, including the newly revealed Fork Lift. Yes, a Fork Lift. It beeps when you back it up. Yup.
